Dr. Nombo, Associate Professor, Rural Development, currently serves as Director, Institute of Continuing Education at Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA). She previously served as Director of SUA’s Development Studies Institute, and Acting Principal, College of Social Sciences and Humanities. Dr. Nombo is an expert on gender and rural development. She previously worked on the USAID funded project The Innovative Agricultural Research Initiative (iAGRI) mainly through SUA’s Gender Policy Implementation Committee (GPIC) to coordinate the implementation of the university’s gender policy. She also coordinated the formal mentoring program that helps young staff, especially female members, reach their full potential. Her research focuses on Rural Development and livelihoods, Gender and Development, Social Capital and HIV/AIDS. Dr. Nombo is a HERS-EA Alum (2017) of The Inaugural HERS-EA ACADEMY (July 2017).
